Simpler Books

Privacy notice

Last updated 1 November 2026

Simpler Books is run by All Dev Ltd. This notice explains what we keep about you and your business, why, and who else is involved. If you have a question, or want to use any of your rights below, email [email protected].

Two kinds of information

Your account. When you sign up we keep your email address and your password, which is stored scrambled so that nobody, including us, can read it. We also keep which companies you can open, and the role you have in each. For this, All Dev Ltd is the data controller.

Your books. Everything you enter about your business, such as invoices, bills, bank transactions and your customers' and suppliers' names and contact details, belongs to your business. We keep it only so that Simpler Books can work for you, and only on your instructions. For this, your business is the data controller and All Dev Ltd is its processor.

What we use it for

We don't sell any of it, we don't use it for advertising, and we don't send you marketing emails unless you ask for them.

Where it's kept

Each company's books are kept in a database of their own, on a server in the UK that All Dev Ltd manages, and backed up there every day, so your books stay in the UK. If a company connects its own mail server or Microsoft 365 mailbox to email its invoices, the password or sign-in for it is stored encrypted.

Who else is involved

Cookies

Simpler Books only uses the cookies it needs to log you in, keep you logged in and protect its forms. There are no advertising or tracking cookies, so there's nothing to agree to. This website doesn't set any cookies of its own.

How long we keep it

We keep your account while you use Simpler Books, and your company's books for as long as your business uses it. When a company is deleted, its books are deleted with it, and they drop out of our backups as those are replaced. Your business is responsible for keeping its own records for as long as the law requires, so export what you need first.

Your rights

You can ask us for a copy of what we keep about you, ask us to correct it or delete it, or object to how we use it. For anything in a company's books, ask that company first, as it decides what's kept. If you're not happy with how we've handled your information, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.
